Port Houston is committed to conducting port operations using a systematic approach to environmental management in order to protect and preserve the natural environment.  In striving to be the recognized maritime industry leader in environmental stewardship, Port Houston commits to:

  1. Meet or exceed all applicable local, state and federal environmental rules, regulations and laws
  2. Incorporate environmental stewardship and pollution prevention in all business decisions, best management practices and policy programs, and communicate these to stakeholders
  3. Continuously evaluate and improve environmental activities and practices to achieve environmental goals
  4. Collaboratively engage businesses, communities and other stakeholders to assist in achieving environmental goals

To achieve those goals, Port Houston is focused on four key areas: air and water quality, land management, stewardship and marsh restoration.
