Our trade development staff works with potential customers and facilitates connections with shipping lines, local real estate and landside transportation providers. We support our potential customers with items that they may need to begin the shipping process via Port Houston.

Breakbulk Services

Port Houston is America’s largest breakbulk gateway in the U.S. Our breakbulk and project cargo terminals can handle virtually any size and type of cargo; connecting world markets to the U.S. quickly and efficiently. Learn more about why we are the leader of breakbulk transport here.

Container Services

With the Panama Canal expansion, we are ready to bring more containers to Houston. Our modern container terminals are equipped to handle your freight. Reefer Services

With the demand for more perishables being shipped to the U.S., Port Houston’s new temperature-controlled cargo facility is soon to be built at our Bayport Container Terminal. We have three operating main reefer facilities with service to and from Asia, Latin America and Europe. Read more about how we keep Houston cool.

Added Customer Service

The trade development team also puts potential customers in touch with Houston’s many economic development organizations, which assist relocating business and help them obtain tax breaks and other financial incentives, as well as organize and sponsor local port, industry, and trade-related events including the Breakbulk Americas Conference, the JOC Gulf Shipping Conference and TradeLink workshops.

Inquiries from outside the U.S. are welcome. Members of the trade development team can speak Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese. Trade development representatives are maintained in Latin America, Brazil, and 14 countries in and around Asia. The Marketing and External Communications Department handles all marketing, external communications, promotions and business-to-business advertising for the port, as well as conduct market research, statistical analysis and forecasting.
