Due to the construction of a new gate canopy, the main gate entrance at Turning Basin Facility that leads to the Executive Office Building will be closed to all traffic starting Wednesday, July 27th. The construction project is expected to take two to three weeks, and all main gate traffic will be diverted to Cargo Bay Road, located at 300 East Loop North or Gate 8 located on Clinton Drive.
If you are traveling over the bridge on 610 northbound, Cargo Bay Road (signed as Truck Entrance) is the gate that is located directly ahead of you as you are about to take a left off of the small bridge going over 610. Once you have entered through Cargo Bay Road, you will take your first left, then simply follow the road all the way and it will bring you to the intersection directly in front of the truck office parking lot. The executive building will be on your left.
If you are traveling southbound on 610, take exit 29 (Port of Houston). Follow the feeder road and turn left under the overpass and stay right toward 610 S. After crossing the 610 overpass go straight toward the Main Truck Gate (signed Truck Entrance) and Cargo Bay Road. Once you have entered through Cargo Bay Road, you will take your first left, then simply follow the road all the way and it will bring you to the intersection directly in front of the truck office parking lot. The executive building will be on your left.
Gate 8 is located on Clinton Drive and is the primary access point that is used for the Sam Houston Boat Tour and Pavilion. If you are traveling on 610 southbound, you would exit Clinton Drive, and proceed westbound (right turn onto Clinton Dr.). You will then follow Clinton Drive approximately 2 miles. Gate 8 will be on your left. Once you enter through Gate 8, take an immediate left and follow Upper Level Road all the way to the executive building.
There will be an additional outbound lane opened at Cargo Bay Rd. for exiting the Turning Basin Facility as well as Gate 8. Expect minor delays at the gate as security will be processing a larger number of vehicles through the gates.
Thank you for your patience during this project.
