Paulo Soares serves as Chief Port Maintenace Officer for Port Houston. His principal responsibilities include management of all maintenance activities for Barbour’s Cut Terminal and Bayport Terminal container handling facilities, and multi-purpose Terminals. He is also responsible for providing direction for master planning and development of facility assets such as cranes, equipment, and vehicles. Additionally, he identifies, develops, and applies innovative practices and continuous improvements to ensure that Port Houston maintenance operations remains at the forefront of port operational efficiencies, goals and objectives.
Mr. Soares joined Port Houston in 1998 as a member of Barbours Cut. In 2007, he worked in the maintenance group to open the Bayport Container Terminal. He was promoted to Director of Maintenance and was responsible for the oversight of maintenance activities at Barbours Cut, Bayport as well as multi-purpose terminals. In 2024, he was promoted to Chief Port Maintenance Officer.
Mr. Soares earned a Bachelor’s from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, a master of business and a master of science from the University of Houston. He currently resides in the Houston area.
