    2021-05-18-2021-05-19

    May 18 – 19, 2021

    9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Port Houston and Rice University’s Baker Institute Center for Energy Studies co-host the first Houston Global Freight Summit.

Hear about these topics from key executives of ports, shippers, ocean carriers, railroads, trucking firms, and fuel suppliers. Researchers and experts in resilience, transportation policy and the environment will describe the latest developments.

The Global Freight Summit is organized by Ed Emmett, Baker Institute fellow in energy and transportation policy, and is co-sponsored by the Baker Institute Center for Energy Studies and Port Houston.

    May 19 – 20, 2021

Houston and Antwerp are the world’s 2 major petrochemical clusters. It won’t surprise you that both set energy transition at the top of their list of priorities. Together with the industry, efforts will be made to reduce CO2 emissions and the transition to alternative energy sources through ambitious transition projects, such as generating renewable energy, using residual heat, and importing, storing and converting hydrogen into sustainable building blocks for the chemical sector. Countering climate change requires the development of innovative technology as well as a sustained global commitment for a clean energy economy.

There will be a panel of experts in both markets to help answer questions and share snapshots of why these two cities are ripe for growth. Hong Kong and Houston are strong markets in trading & logistics, startups, biotechnology, food, financial services and top-notch talent pools.
