Terminal History

The Bayport Container Terminal is a state-of-the-art facility, located in the Pasadena Industrial Complex. Bayport opened for business in 2007 and it is the second Port Houston operated container terminal, built to support container cargo growth in the Gulf Coast.

Currently, Bayport has five operational container berths and 314 acres of container yard space with plans to expand in the near future. The terminal’s environmental benefits include the preservation of coastal habitats, marsh habitats, and wetlands to support marine and animal life.

Terminal Investments & Capabilities

Port Houston is investing $750M in capital improvements over the next five years (2023 – 2027) at Bayport Container Terminal. Investments include construction of additional wharves, and additional equipment orders of STS cranes to support demand.
