NOTICE: Apply Now to Partner with Port Houston on the EPA Clean Ports Grant

The Port Houston EPA Clean Ports Program Grant Call for Partners (CFP) response deadline has been extended to 1/24/24 at 5pm CST. Responses are now to be sent to [email protected] in PDF format with the word ‘Response’ and the title of the call for partners you are responding to in the subject line of the email.

Jan. 19 Update: The documents below include a reference to submit proposals through grantsinterface.com – this is old and is superseded by the email address above.

Multiple partners are expected to be selected. To be selected as a partner the respondent must hold an active registration with https://www.sam.gov prior to contract execution.

After selection, Port Houston will work with our partners to develop the best combined application possible to leverage your proposed project/commitment in obtaining funding to become the cleanest port in the country! The selection will occur in February with the application to EPA expected to be due in May 2024. This is why projects you already have planned will be paramount to our application readiness. We look forward to working with you. And remember, if not chosen for this opportunity, your project may be selected for other potential opportunities throughout 2024 with Port Houston.

You can find the 5 call for projects links and additional information below.

Jan. 19 Update: Document Titles may not convey the full scope of eligible activities so refer to the addendum and also the general idea that implementation of zero emissions cargo equipment, trucks, harbor vessels, shore power and electrical / fueling facilities for any of the above, and climate action planning and community strengthening activities, will be considered.

Refer to the clarification addendum below and EPA’s October 31 webinar slides EPA Clean Ports Program: First Look! – Webinar (October 31, 2023)  and other related documents to assist your formulation of proposals. The below addendum must be attached to any response to be considered complete.

Jan. 19 Update: Proposal Submission requirements are outlined in detail within each document above.  However, priority is on clarity and commitment, not length.  At a minimum, all submissions should clearly convey the proposal idea, teams/people involved, and ability to make necessary commitments;  provide a letter of intent for partnership and financial share, list of team members and roles, the project description with anticipated benefits (environmental and community as applicable) and costs, timing and other project particulars such that the project can be evaluated for inclusion, and a brief narrative explaining the project consistency with EPA intents.

For questions, also contact [email protected].  ‘Question’ should be in the subject line of the email asking questions.
