Hazardous Documentation Requests
Hazardous Cargo
Needs Safe Shipping
Port Houston uses a paperless hazardous pre-advise system for both Bayport and Barbours Cut container terminals. Hazardous documents from the driver, at the gate, will not be accepted.
Documentation Process
Please note that class 1.4 explosive cargo will not be allowed on the terminal (per the tariff) until the day of the vessel’s arrival. Also, radioactive material (class 7) must meet shipping and handling requirements and will be accepted only after documents have been submitted and approved by the Port Houston Fire Chief.
Hazard documentation is submitted to Port Houston by the steamship lines. To verify if your unit is pre-advised, please follow the below steps.
- On Lynx, please enter in either the container number or booking in the HAZ Documents tab under exports.
- If the search does not have any results, your container is not pre-advised yet– please reach out to the line.
- If the search results have YES under approved, your unit is pre-advised and ready to ingate.
