Amy Seymour

Chief Port Security and Emergency Operations (PSEO) Officer

Amy Seymour was promoted to chief PSEO officer at Port Houston in April 2024, less than a year after joining the organization as director of safety. In her current role, she leads the Port Security and Emergency Operations (PSEO) Division, which encompasses the Fire and Emergency Management Department, Environmental Affairs, Port Police, Safety, and Security.

Seymour is responsible for overseeing emergency response protocols along the entire Houston Ship Channel, managing safety, security, and emergency operations across all Port Houston terminals. Her key duties include ensuring readiness for all types of incidents—ranging from all-hazard responses and emergencies to maritime security and emerging threats.

With two decades of experience in operational safety across the supply chain, transportation, and port terminal management, Seymour brings a strategic, results-driven, and people-focused leadership style to the role.

Her expertise is reinforced by her long-standing involvement in the National Safety Council. She was named a National Safety Council Rising Star of Safety in 2016, contributed as an author to the NSC's Motor Fleet Safety Manual, and serves on the council’s delegates committee to the board of directors.

Seymour is known for her commitment to fostering public safety and cultivating a positive workplace environment. She is passionate about inspiring others and serves as a catalyst for safety initiatives that protect both people and operations.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and earned her Master of Business Administration with distinction from the University of Phoenix. She is also a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), a credential awarded by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.

Outside of work, Seymour enjoys a full and active life with her wife, Kaylee, and their blended family of biological, adopted, and foster children, along with their two dogs and three cats. Her hobbies include music, roller-skating, lacrosse, and cooking.
