Vendor Registration

ANNOUNCEMENT: Port Houston will be replacing Buyspeed in January of 2026. We are working to ensure a smooth transition for all vendors and all procurements in flight at the time of the Workday go-live, January 5, 2026. Please pay attention to email updates, as we will be sharing specific instructions and recommendations for go-live.

Procurement Manual

Our Strategic Sourcing Department maintains a Procurement Manual which serves as a primary reference for Port employees and a useful resource for anyone interested in doing business with Port Houston. The manual is another way the Port demonstrates its commitment to streamlining the procurement process.

While adhering to principles of good public policy and sound business practice, our manual provides standards for processing purchases to ensure that all goods and services are obtained in a timely, efficient and economical manner.

Strategic Sourcing FAQS

Port Houston seeks bids/proposals from qualified vendors to provide goods and services. Register in Workday.

Vendors who have registered in Workday should update their vendor profiles to include all of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) codes associated with their businesses.

Vendors may search for the appropriate NIGP code in the NIGP Crosswalk that is found on Workday. Alternatively, you can click here for the latest NAICS Code-NIGP Code Conversion Chart.

Some of the goods and services include everything from advertising and promotional items to automobile repair parts to chemicals. Additional goods and services procured also include things like computers and software, as well as safety equipment or tools.

Commodities and services range from building maintenance to pest control to elevator repair  to health insurance. Industrial paper products and office supplies along with trash disposal and vehicles are other examples.

Services include general contractors, mechanical engineering, architectural design, environmental consulting, civil engineering and structural engineering.

Those include inspection services, printing, temporary staffing and testing laboratories.
