Port Houston hosted Chinese officials from four ministries June 2 at the Bayport Container Terminal.
Executives from the Chinese Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, private sector Chinese distributors, cold chain providers and retailers visited the port to discuss best practices in the refrigerated cargo supply chain.
Houston is home to four main warehouse companies with multiple refrigerated cargo facilities.
The delegation also visited with several other U.S. companies to discuss logistics and trade.
Port Houston Chief Operating Officer Tom Heidt welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of the greater Port of Houston and its economic impact to the region. Port Houston Trade Development Manager Ricardo Arias provided a commercial presentation to the group.
A critical piece of the cold supply chain is processing and handling temperature- sensitive products at the port. The U.S. is a top exporter of these goods with leading technology.
The visit concluded with a tour of the facility and container yard.
