Director Terminal Technology & Innovation

Joey Purdue joined Port Houston in 2013 as a Vessel Services Superintendent and has since held a series of leadership roles across the organization, including Yard Planner, Yard Planning Manager, and Senior Terminal Operating Systems Manager. Throughout his tenure, he has successfully led several large-scale, operations-focused technology projects, including Live Vessel Operations, which digitized vessel processes through real-time location systems; the RTG Optimization (RTG-O) initiative, a lighthouse project with Navis that dynamically deploys cranes in real time to areas of demand; and RTG DGPS, which modernized the RTG fleet with precise GPS positioning. 

In April 2024, Joey was promoted to Director of Terminal Technology & Innovation, where he leads the strategic advancement of Port Houston’s terminal automation, optimization, and system integration initiatives across the container terminals. 

Joey holds a Bachelor of Science in Maritime Administration from Texas A&M University at Galveston.
