Paul Bingham is Director, Global Insight Transportation Consulting in S&P Global Market Intelligence. He has over 30 years of experience managing economic analysis and forecasting of freight transportation and international commodity trade for shippers, carriers, investors and public agencies. This work includes applications of the company’s Global Trade Analysis Suite of trade statistics and forecasting, S&P Global’s Transearch modal US commodity flow data and forecasting, and S&P Global Commodity Insights energy, chemicals, and bulk shipping data and forecasts. Applying economic analysis and demand forecasting for transportation, he works with the company’s macro, regional and industry economists and risk analysts advising organizations needing to understand cargo market potential.  He has provided support to TxDOT with modal freight and trade forecasts used statewide in transportation infrastructure planning, and has provided maritime trade forecasts for use in US Army Corps of Engineers navigation project planning. 

Paul is an S&P Global subject matter expert in maritime trade and freight transportation serving as a three-term member of the former US Federal Advisory Committee on Supply Chain Competitiveness. He is an appointed member of the Marine Board of the National Academies of Sciences. He is a member of the Council on Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), contributing to the annual CSCMP State of Logistics Report and CSCMP’s EPIC Country Risk Report. He is an Emeritus Member of the Transportation Research Board (TRB), having served as chair of the TRB Freight Systems Group and the TRB Value of Transportation Infrastructure Task Force. He is a member of the Transportation Research Forum, serving as a past Vice President of the TRF National Council.
