Ryan Mariacher serves as Chief Port Operations Officer for Port Houston. In this role, he leads the daily operations of the Port’s public terminals, including Barbours Cut and Bayport Container Terminals, and oversees the utilization of Port Houston’s multipurpose facilities. Mariacher ensures operations are conducted safely and efficiently in support of Port Houston’s mission to promote regional economic growth through job creation. He is also responsible for strengthening relationships with new and existing customers, terminal users, labor, ship pilots, and supply chain partners who rely on Port Houston as a trusted service provider. Additionally, he ensures Port Houston’s core values of safety, security, and environmental stewardship are embedded throughout daily operations.
Mariacher joined Port Houston in 2004 as an Operations Superintendent at Barbours Cut. In 2006, he became part of the startup team that opened Bayport Container Terminal in 2007 and continued to advance his career across all major disciplines of container terminal operations. In 2014, he was named Director of Container Operations, overseeing operations at both Barbours Cut and Bayport, including capital project planning, budget development, and performance and financial analysis. In 2024, he was promoted to Chief Port Operations Officer.
A native Houstonian, Mariacher earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University at Galveston. He lives in the Houston area with his wife, Amy, and their three sons.
