Current Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) include adding or improving motorized and non-motorized transportation infrastructure, stormwater and sanitary sewer infrastructure, city facilities and other key projects.
Turning Basin Wharf 23 Reconstruction
This project upgrades and strengthens Wharf 23, originally constructed in the 1960’s. The top 4 inches of the surface is being removed and replaced with new reinforcement steel and stronger concrete. In addition, beams and columns below the deck are being repaired.
Turning Basin South
Refurbish Concrete Pavement
This project, south of Transit Shed No. 46, repairs storm water drainage and rebuilds and widens the damaged roadway, thereby mitigating congestion to the day to-day cargo traffic congestion.
BCT Wharf 3 Rehab
This project consists of the design of the rehabilitation work to be performed on Wharf 3 to accommodate 100 gage ship to shore (STS) cranes. The design consists of creating over 200 construction drawings and 200 technical specifications to upgrade Wharf 3, originally constructed in the 1980’s to support the larger STS cranes, and consequently providing service to post Panamax ships.
BCT East End and C1 Reconstruction
The project consists of the demolitioning approximately 43 acres of 7 to 10 inch thick concrete pavement constructed in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, and replace with 18-inch concrete pavement. The original thin pavement was intended to support warehouse light duty vehicles and cargo. The new 18-inch thick concrete pavement will withstand the heavy loads from RTGs (rubber tire gantry) cranes and corresponding containers.
Bayport Wharf 2 Construction
This project constructs approximately 600 feet of new wharf which will support larger cranes that can service post-panamax container ships.
Bayport CY6 South
The construction of Container Yard 6 South (CY6S) at Bayport Container Terminal is approaching the end and when completed CY6S will have the capability to provide 1,140 grounded 20′ & 500 new reefer parking spaces with plugs.
