Port Houston is introducing Anchored in Action, a uniquely strategic approach to align the needs of nearby communities with the resources of Houston Ship Channel industries and other regional partners, including foundations and local governments.
About:
Anchored in Action is a community investment plan developed by Port Houston to help identify projects that align with the corporate social responsibility priorities of regional stakeholders and industry along the Houston Ship Channel to better coordinate community investments and volunteer efforts to maximize collective impact and benefit the communities in a meaningful way.
Port Houston partnered with 14 port-adjacent communities to gather feedback from residents and understand unique needs and priorities for each community group. The plan sections the identified communities into 4 regions according to geographic location along the Houston Ship Channel and Galveston Bay. Plans for each of the 14 communities in the Anchor in Action Plan were prepared with the active participation of residents, community organizations, local government, and elected representatives.
