Current Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) include adding or improving motorized and non-motorized transportation infrastructure, stormwater and sanitary sewer infrastructure, city facilities and other key projects.


Bayport Rail Spur Construction

Bayport Rail Spur Construction

Construction of approximately 6500 track feet of rail at the Bayport Terminal. This rail will cross State Highway (SH) 146 and connect the existing rail from Strang Rail line to within 900 feet of the Container Freight Station (CFS) Road in the Bayport Intermodal Facility.  This project will also include clearing, grubbing, drainage, rail crossings, signalization and perhaps a sound wall, if required.

Construction of approximately 50 acres of reinforced and roller compacted 18-inch concrete pavement, including the construction of a storm water collection system, water and sanitary sewer mains, high mast lighting and communication conduit.

Improvement of existing drainage system tied to IH-610 feeder road at the Volkswagen yard at the Turning Basin terminal.

Project 2: PHA construction of drainage improvements to the Volkswagen Yard.

Barbours Cut Rehabilitation of Container Yard C1N and C2N

The scope of work includes the construction of approximately 20 acres of concrete pavement for storage of containers as well as traffic lanes to maintain circulation into and around storage areas.

Rehabilitation of Wharf 3, Construction of Electrical Infrastructure and Lash Dock Demolition at Barbours Cut Terminal

The project is divided into three parts: Part 1: The wharf 3 will be upgraded in order to support 100 feet gauge dock cranes. This work  includes the upgrade of 1000 feet of wharf, a new stevedore support building, structural elements, high mast pole lighting, and electrical infrastructure. Part 2: It includes the construction of 3,600 feet of concrete duct bank for power and communications; and, Part 3: It consists of the partial demolition of the Lash Dock.

Bayport - Remodel Gate Services Building for USDA

Remodel approximately 1345 SF of the existing Gate Services Building (GSB) at Bayport Container Terminal to be utilized by the USDA as an inspection laboratory.  The project includes enclosing the roof overhang around the building to create a larger than existing tenant space. It also includes the installation of laboratory equipment, office space, a communications equipment room, additional HVAC and associated items.

Project will remove the existing fenders and install new fenders at Wharf 1 & 2 at the CARE Terminal.

This is a one year contract concrete and asphaltic replacement at two Terminals, Barbours Cut and Bayport.

The work will consist of removing damaged and or deteriorating pavement in 2019.

This project will consist of blasting, priming and painting the wharf cranes and RTG cranes on an “as needed” basis.

This project includes surface preparation, repair and replacement of various fender system elements at Barbours Cut and Bayport Terminals in 2019.
